This show was a lot of fun, really glad I made the trip for it.

First set:

They played the new album backwards, I figured it out at Devil Be Gone because they played that one the night before. You never know which tunes aren't going to get a lot of live play so it was cool to hear the whole thing. Kind of goofy that they did it backwards. To finish out the set they did I Wish I Knew with Jaimoe. It's one of my favorite songs, really love the way TTB does it with the vocalists taking turns.

Second set:

Jaimoe played for the rest of the show. They opened with Ohio which was cool to hear again but the Machine Gun jam was way shorter than last week. Soul Sweet Song, Made Up Mind, the new Sly medley, Let Me Get By, Loving Cup > Leaving Trunk > Volunteered Slavery. It Ain't Fair with Alecia is always great. Warren Haynes came out for Dreams and Whipping Post and it was incredible. I've been chasing this sit in for the longest time, first time seeing Warren play with TTB and it didn't disappoint. Really cool that Jaimoe was there too making it an Allman Bros mini reunion.

The Beatles tune encore was a lot of fun too, Cyndi Lauper came out again for this one. She and Susan looked like they were having a lot of fun. I get the impression they've been friends for awhile. Overall a really amazing show, well worth the late night drive home.

This was an incredible night, had everything I want in a TTB show.

In the first set:

A couple of tunes off the new album, Emmaline (a really beautiful song that showcases Mattison's stellar songwriting), a bust out of an old classic (first Misunderstood in almost 3 years), a couple of Derek and the Dominoes tunes, the new Sly medley, and Bound For Glory to close it out.

In the second set:

Another bust out of an old classic (only the third Rollin' and Tumblin' since 2019, Cyndi Lauper was a totally unexpected sit in too), a couple of more tunes off the new album, Ohio > Machine Gun jam (highlight of the show and honestly one of the coolest thing I've ever seen this band do), Let Me Get By, Midnight, new Stones cover into Leaving Trunk (with Nico from the Black Crowes sitting in), Angel > Sugaree, and Gilded Splinters to close it out.

To top it all off Show Me was a really fun encore, first time I've heard that one live. This show was just packed full of incredible stuff, we had the best time. Would highly recommend listening to the audience tapes, especially Ohio > Machine Gun.

Let me start this review by stating that the energy was off the charts! When the crowd is up, on their feet, and engaged, the band feeds off it and raises the stakes to a whole other level. Susan and Derek were smiling the whole set! A really nice distribution of original material from their catalog, including 3 tunes off the next soon-to-be released studio album. Plus, 2 Derek & the Dominos off Layla! I really love the Manic Depression tease in Let Me Get By, which is new for this year; it fits really well. And oh my gosh, we got Spanish Moon, which is a gigantic bust out for them (with a 570 show gap)! I heard them sound check this one while waiting outside the venue and was like, "Holy shit they are gonna bust out freaking Spanish Moon tonight!" And they certainly didn't disappoint! Great band, great show, great vibe!

Just when you wonder what could they possibly do next..The band is on Fire!! They are creating great new songs (Future Soul, Moon), all while reworking older classic TTB songs (Shame and Bound For Glory w/ Alecia out front) and covers (Tangled Up In Blue, Leavin Trunk, Tell The Truth)!! And a great nod to friends and idols during Soul Swet Song on the big screen. They are a force to be reckoned with Live! This is one of the best shows I've seen to date. Thank you to the whole band!

When the band busted out "700 Houses" back in November, I listened back to the known 2010 versions (this one and 10/1). There's no telling how many times I've listened to this version since then...it's perfect.

The studio version of this song features a horn section playing the melody, but in this iteration of TTB without horns, it's Kofi on flute. Susan's vocal performance on this is flawless throughout. And Derek's solo...sheesh. Comes out of the gate punchin', full on attack - which isn't the approach I would think to take on this tune, but it works on this night. Continues to build with the drums at the end of the walkdown, and then Derek just sends it at the turnaround, with Oteil laying the bass line beautifully beneath him. Can't listen to this solo and have dry eyes by the end - it's easily a contender for my favorite Derek solo under a minute. In the recording on archive.org, it's the second half of track labeled "Give It Up or Let Me Go" - do yourself a favor and give it a listen!!
